Jon Kitna’s “10 win” statement looked good halfway through the season last year but reality quickly set in as the Lions finished the season 1-7 as the schedule got tougher. The Lions did a nice job of drafting for need but this often leads to players not adapting to the NFL quickly enough.
A change at offensive co-ordinator combined a lot of young players being counted on to improve problems on both sides of the line could make for a season a lot more like the 1-7 finish than the 6-2 start of a year ago. They have some tough teams on the schedule again this year with the Packers and Vikings being very talented.
As a football capper the Lions are often a solid pick – against – but often this reflects in the spread so the value is not always there for Detroit. And the fast home track makes over my first thought when I look at totals.
Predicted 2008-09 Record: 6-10
