2007 Record: 13-3
Key Losses: Ben Utecht (TE), Jake Scott (OG), Rocky Boiman (LB)
Key Additions: None
There’s an adage in sports that if you’re not getting better, you’re getting worse. That could be the case with the Colts who are also getting older. I won’t make much of the Peyton Manning knee saga – I fully expect his knee to be fine and for Peyton to be 100% ready on opening day. A healthy Dwight Freeney is a big key for this team, as is a healthy Marvin Harrisson who isn’t getting any younger. The window of opportunity to get back to a Superbowl may quickly be closing on the Colts.
If all key spots for Indy are healthy they remain one of the most talented teams in the NFL but those may be some big ifs to truly be a Superbowl favorite. The Jags have closed the gap on Indy but the champ never falls easily.
From a wagering perspective there may be some value playing against the Colts who are often overvalued in the point spread and the total usually gets pretty high.
