I can absolutely see all 4 road teams winning this weekend – that would be very unusual but the home teams in all games have plenty of weaknesses. Here are my favorite predictions for the first round of the NFL playoffs:
Atlanta Falcons -2.5 over Arizona
You simply can’t have a defense as bad as the Cardinals and expect to have too much success in the post season. Their offense is very impressive, yes but it is largely one-dimensional which is another element that will get your trouble during the playoffs.
Colts/Chargers OVER 51
Neither offense has their running game working very well right now so expect the ball to be in the air often – and effectively as neither defense has shown great strength stopping the pass with much consistency.
Miami Dolphins +3.5 over Baltimore
Yes, I know I started my post by saying all 4 road teams could win – and I still believe they can. I simply believe that Miami is the most likely exception – I also believe it’s very possible Baltimore wins this game by 3 points. The Dolphins have a nicely balanced offense and an experienced QB – that gives them a fighting chance of surviving the very tough Raven defense.
